Robert J. Borghese

 

Robert J. Borghese is a corporate and transactional attorney. His practice focuses on advising emerging growth companies and their investors on new venture structuring, corporate strategic planning, private equity and debt financings and general corporate legal and transactional  issues services including technology development licensing, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. Mr. Borghese has advised companies from inception through the creation of multi-billion-dollar enterprises across a range of industries including technology, healthcare, and financial services.

For the past three years, Mr. Borghese has been a member of the faculty of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches Legal and Transactional Aspects of Entrepreneurship, a top-rated course in the Wharton M.B.A. and Executive M.B.A. programs (Profile). He is the author of M&A from Planning to Integration: Executing Acquisitions and Increasing Shareholder Value, published by McGraw-Hill in English and Chinese language versions (Link to Book). He has appeared as a commentator on PBS, CNBC’s Power Lunch (Video), CNNfn’s The Money Gang (Video), and has been quoted in the Financial Times (Article)Fortune, WSJ (Article)Forbes (Article), Technically Philly (Article), and Inc. (Article) magazines.

Mr. Borghese is vice-chairman of the Advisory Board of the Port Fund, a Kuwait-based private equity fund focused on port facility and related logistics investments in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

Mr. Borghese holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, an M.A. in Economics from King’s College, Cambridge University, England, and a B.S. in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (Profile).

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Borghese has been involved as a founder and principal investor in a number of business ventures. Mr. Borghese is a founder and partner in Arno Capital Partners LLC, a private investment fund that focuses on investments in real estate and financial services companies. In 2008, a predecessor to Arno acquired the managed telecom assets of Fiberlink Communications Corporation (a Goldman Sachs portfolio company), turned around the business and sold the business to ANXeBusiness Corp. (a J.P. Morgan Chase portfolio company). Arno has also invested in Sivox Holdings LLC, a voice-recognition driven simulation technology company, and Corporate Training Technologies, LLC, a financial services regulatory compliance software and training company. In 2011, Arno launched North 90 Financial LLC, an investment fund focused on the acquisition of distressed mortgage assets. In addition, Arno is a sponsor and general partner in real estate investment partnerships focused on the acquisition and development of multifamily and commercial office assets. Mr. Borghese is also a founder and partner in Stonehedge Funding LLC, a real estate merchant bank that provides acquisition and development financing for commercial real estate projects.
